To Allan: this thread is a perfect example of what I mentioned above - I have heard of Evernote and other note-type programs in iOS but don't use any of them myself so have no recommendations or suggestions for you - sorry! That said, like Jim, I'm interested in seeing what kinds of responses you do receive. Teachers use it to organize lesson plans in a digitalized notebook format and share it with the other staff members. OneNote is very popular in the education sector. It offers its users a feel of the traditional notebook in a hassle-free digital format. It lets you import all your notes and their metadata (metadata are all additional information such as geo-location, author, time of creation etc.), and photos by converting them from their previous format to Markdown. For that reason, it is programmed to offer a complete transfer from Evernote. I find this "Follow Thread" feature very handy and use it quite frequently when I'm interested in a topic but don't really have anything to contribute to it. Microsoft OneNote can be seen as an upgrade to traditional notebooks. Joplin was designed to be a replacement for Evernote. The "Watch Thread" clickable thingy becomes "Unwatch Thread," if for some reason you don't want to continue following a given thread at any time. At the top right side of the screen on each thread there is a clickable line, "Watch Thread," which then opens the option to watch the thread with or without email notifications, and once clicked, in the future you will receive alerts when there is a new posting. The first step in this fun organizational process is to create a new note within the notebook of choice. Jim, in case you are unaware of this feature, you don't have to post in a thread in order to follow it and to be alerted to new posts when they are added.
